Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to SmilePurple ("SmilePurple", "we", "our", or "us"). SmilePurple creates books and activity resources designed for children, and is committed to protecting the privacy of every parent, guardian, educator, therapist, school, and visitor who interacts with our website or services.
SmilePurple is currently operated as an independent business that has not yet been formally registered as a company, LLP, or proprietorship in India. Until formal registration is complete, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the individual(s) presently operating this business, who are responsible for the practices described in this Policy. This section will be updated with the registered legal entity name once registration is complete.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect your personal information when you visit our website, create an account, place an order, request customised resources, communicate with us, or otherwise interact with SmilePurple.
By accessing or using our website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
2. Scope of this Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to:
• our official website;
• customer accounts;
• guest checkout purchases;
• product enquiries;
• customised resources for children;
• customer support communications;
• reviews and ratings submitted through our website; and
• any other services offered directly through SmilePurple.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, payment gateways, courier partners, or external platforms linked from our website. Those services maintain their own privacy practices.

B. Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect information necessary to create your account, authenticate your identity, save preferences, maintain your cart and wishlist, and improve your shopping experience. Guest checkout is available; you are not required to create an account.
C. Information Related to Customised Resources for Children
Where you voluntarily request customised or modified resources, we may collect information such as: the learner's first name; age or age group; educational level; learning preferences; developmental goals; sensory or behavioural considerations you choose to share; therapy-related recommendations shared by you; customisation instructions; and previous customisation requests.
This information is collected only when you voluntarily provide it, and solely to create, improve, modify, or reorder customised resources. We ask that you share only the minimum information necessary for customisation.
Because this information may relate to your child's diagnosis, therapy, or developmental needs, we treat it with heightened care. It is: (a) used only to prepare or modify the specific resource you request; (b) never used for behavioural tracking, profiling, or targeted advertising directed at your child; and (c) accessible only to the personnel directly involved in preparing your order. SmilePurple is not a medical, psychological, or therapeutic service provider — any customisation is based solely on the information and preferences you share, and does not constitute clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic advice.
D. Transaction Information
Products purchased, order value, delivery preferences, shipping information, order status, invoices, and customer service interactions relating to your purchase.
E. Payment Information
SmilePurple does not store your debit card, credit card, UPI credentials, banking passwords, CVV numbers, or other sensitive payment credentials. Payments are processed through authorised third-party payment service providers, who handle payment information under their own privacy policies.

Used primarily for security, troubleshooting, and improving website performance.
4. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
• Aadhaar numbers

• Biometric information
• Formal medical/health records
• Financial passwords
• One-time passwords (OTP)
• Complete payment card information
Please do not send such information through our website, contact forms, or support channels unless specifically and lawfully requested by us.
5. Children's Privacy
SmilePurple creates resources for children; however, our website is intended to be used by parents, guardians, educators, therapists, schools, and other adults purchasing or enquiring about our products. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and children are not permitted to create accounts or complete checkout independently.
Where information about a child is shared, it is provided voluntarily by a parent, guardian, educator, therapist, or other authorised adult, who confirms they have the authority to share it, solely for the purpose of developing or fulfilling a customised resource. Consistent with the DPDP Act's requirements around processing children's personal data, we do not use children's information for behavioural monitoring, tracking across websites or apps, or targeted/personalised advertising directed at a child. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate authorisation, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address it, including deletion where appropriate.
6. Consent
Where we rely on your consent to process personal information (for example, marketing communications, or optional details shared for customisation), that consent is sought for specific, clearly stated purposes. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing admin.smilepurple@gmail.com — withdrawal will be as simple as giving consent, though it will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal, and may affect our ability to provide certain services (e.g., we may not be able to fulfil a customisation request without the details needed for it).
7. How We Use Your Information
• create and manage customer accounts;
• process and fulfil orders;
• deliver products;
• provide customer support and respond to enquiries;
• process customised resource requests and remember prior customisation details for future modifications, where you ask us to;
• improve our products and services;
• maintain website security and prevent fraud;
• comply with legal obligations and maintain business records;
• facilitate international orders where applicable; and
• communicate important information about your purchases.
Where you have given consent, we may also send updates about new products, resources, or promotions. You may opt out at any time.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website may use cookies to remember login sessions, maintain your cart and wishlist, save preferences, and improve functionality and security. Most browsers let you manage or disable cookies, though this may affect some features.
9. Reviews and Ratings
Customers may voluntarily submit reviews and ratings, which may become publicly visible. Please do not include sensitive personal information — including identifiable details, photos, or diagnoses of a child — in a public review. SmilePurple may moderate or remove reviews that are unlawful, abusive, misleading, defamatory, or otherwise violate our Terms & Conditions.
10. Contact Forms and Customer Support
When you contact us, we may retain your correspondence to respond to your enquiry, provide support, improve our services, and maintain service records.
11. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information for third parties' independent marketing purposes. We may share limited information, only as reasonably necessary, with:
• courier and logistics partners;
• payment service providers;
• website hosting and technology service providers;
• customer support service providers; and
• legal or regulatory authorities, where required by applicable law.
Each recipient is expected to use shared information only for the purpose for which it was shared.
12. Your Rights as a Data Principal
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you (as a Data Principal, or as a parent/guardian exercising rights on behalf of a child) have the right to:
• Access — request a summary of the personal information we hold about you and how it is processed;
• Correction and completion — request correction of inaccurate or misleading information, and completion of incomplete information;
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal information once it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, unless we are required to retain it by law;
• Grievance redressal — raise a complaint about how your information has been handled, and receive a response within a reasonable time;
• Withdraw consent — at any time, for processing based on consent;
• Nominate — name another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin.smilepurple@gmail.com. We aim to acknowledge requests within a reasonable time and resolve them as promptly as possible.
13. Grievance Officer
For any privacy-related questions, complaints, or requests to exercise your rights, please contact us at admin.smilepurple@gmail.com. As SmilePurple completes formal business registration, we will publish the name and designation of a dedicated Grievance Officer here, as required under the DPDP Rules.
14. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a personal data breach, we will take reasonable steps to contain and assess the incident, and will notify affected individuals and the Data Protection Board of India as required under applicable law.
15. Data Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures to safeguard personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse. Information related to a child's developmental or therapy-related needs is accessible only to personnel directly involved in preparing your order. No website or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Data Retention
We aim to retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary, and where possible, on the following basis:
• Order and transaction records: retained as required under applicable Indian tax and accounting law.
• Customisation details (including any developmental/therapy-related notes you share): retained only for as long as needed to fulfil your order and support future reorders, or until you request deletion, whichever is earlier.
• Account information: retained until you delete your account, plus a reasonable buffer for security and dispute-resolution purposes.
• Marketing preferences: retained until you withdraw consent.
Where information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymise it, unless retention is required by law.
17. International Orders and Cross-Border Transfer
SmilePurple may accept orders from customers outside India. Your information is primarily stored and processed in India. By placing an international order, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in India and shared with international logistics providers where necessary to fulfil your order, and that we take reasonable steps to protect it in doing so.
18. Third-Party Services
Our website may integrate or link to third-party services, including payment gateways, courier services, and technology platforms, which operate independently under their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies before providing personal information.
19. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our business practices, legal requirements, or website functionality. The updated version will be published here with a revised Effective Date. Continued use of our website after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
